Recently I went on an RSVP Caribbean cruise with 3,400 other men. I asked RSVP to schedule a Prime Timers Happy Hour while on the ship.
When I boarded, I found that they had scheduled two Happy Hours for us, one on Thursday and another on Friday. Both were well attended by my fellow Prime Timers. About 60 members attended the first one and 40 the second.
Last month, 34 Fort Lauderdale Prime Timers met for dinner at Umberto's Long Island Restaurant for dinner. All had a good dinner of steak, salmon, or chicken. The day after that, we had lunch at Bonefish Grill to welcome back the snowbirds to South Florida.
The Fort Lauderdale Prime Timers held their July general membership meeting at 2:00 p.m. at the Florida Pride Center. This was a member-only meeting and was limited to 140 members because of space limitations. A 50-50 drawing was held and the winner received $200. Chicken and pork ribs were served to the members at no charge.
Several Board Members attended the Celebration of Life Service for Woody Baldwin. They were Michael Stone, Richard Tobison, Jack Nimmo, and myself. There were also several past board members present.
It was well attended and had a very good program. Several of Woody's friends spoke, including the only living charter member of the Austin Prime Timers. Several people from his poetry club also spoke.
The Fort Lauderdale Prime Timers had their annual Christmas Dinner Party at Tropical Acres Restaurant on Tuesday, December 15, 2015. President Henry Penas presided over the gathering of over 100 men. A dinner of Stuffed Breast of Chicken, Prime Rib, or Norwegian Salmon was served to the guests. After dinner, three Santa Clauses came and passed out White Elephant gifts to those present. Everyone had a good time. Ft. Lauderdale Prime Timers now has over 500 members.
