The Worldwide Board needs a Director-at-Large. This Director-at-Large will be responsible for making calls to 24 chapters each quarter. Being on the Board also gives you opportunities to be on other committees or panels as needed. This Board position requires you attend a Board conference call every 6 weeks or so. You must have at minimum basic computer knowledge. The Board requires one face-to-face visit each year. Our meeting this year will be in Myrtle Beach, SC in October. Your registration fee will be paid for; however, you are required to pay for transportation and hotel. In 2019, our Worldwide Convention will be in San Antonio, TX. Your registration and hotel fee will be paid for then. You will be responsible for your own transportation.

I am Vice President of Prime Timers Worldwide and this is my bio.

As we review the Chapter Surveys we received from your Chapter Advocate, it seems the most consistent problem the chapters have is acquiring new members, acquiring volunteers and increasing numbers at events. Today, I wish to address acquiring new members. We have a few ideas that have worked quite well and will share them with you.

Worldwide Prime Timers welcomes our newest chapter, Prime Timers of Knoxville, to our organization. Check-out their new website at www.primetimersww.com/knoxville. If you wish to contact them, the chapter's email address is This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.. I was honored to be invited to the San Antonio Prime Timers' 25th anniversary celebration. The party was held on October 7th at a local hall with over 100 people attending. It was a wonderful evening with plenty of food.

Yes, it is that time again. This October, we will have a new Board. The election will take place at the Worldwide Convention in Chicago this October (see page 4 for more information).

I would like to share a wonderful story with you. For the past few years, I have been working with the LGBT Center here in Las Vegas to have a Thanksgiving dinner for all LGBT seniors in the community. The Center is closed on Thanksgiving Day, but they made an exception this past year and opened it for this event.

Well, we had a very interesting year in 2016. I guess the major story was the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election.

After watching all the horrible accusations from both parties, it got me thinking about our organization. I thought about the dynamics of the chapter boards and the PTWW board. Each member on a board has different goals and different passions.

I want to share a few moments of your time to tell you what it is like being a Board Member. It does not matter if you are a Board Member of a chapter or on the Worldwide Board.

Being a Board Member (which is a volunteer job) takes many hours of my time. I ran for the VP of Chapters position on the Worldwide Board because I was asked. I had no real desire to be on the Board as I am president of the Las Vegas Board and that keeps me busy enough.

WOW! What a success the 2016 Western Regional Gathering was. We were concerned a little about having an event like that at the Stratosphere. Turns out that we had nothing to worry about. The Stratosphere was wonderful as they gave us great customer service and were always there or available. Some of the highlights were the food at the Meet & Greet, the Private Pool Party, the Comedy Show, and the Dinner Banquet.
