PTWW Membership Survey

Want to have a voice for the direction of PTWW?  Please click the [Read More] button below for the PTWW Membership Survey.  It is very important for our strategic planning efforts.

Nothing makes me happier than some of the comments I heard from people as they entered the boat for our first anniversary party.

I heard: "I haven’t seen you in 25 years. We don’t go out to the bars much since we’ve gotten older." "I’m newly out and I have been looking for ways to meet other gay men but I don’t like going to gay bars." "Older men are treated like trolls at some of the bars. It’s nice to feel a part of a group that is not a part of that scene."

On July 27th at 4:00 pm —a beautiful Saturday — at Bayliss Park in Council Bluffs IA, PTWW president Rob H. and Dub G., both from Oklahoma City, were married by Rev. Dr. E. Scott Jones of First Central Congregational Church in Omaha, a long-time friend from Oklahoma City.

Those attending were especially moved by the vows the couple wrote themselves, and the talks given by Rob’s son and their best men.

Finally Out

Loren Olson is the President of the newly formed Prime Timers of Central Iowa. Loren and his husband Doug Mortimer have been together 27 years. They were married in 2009 after the Supreme Court of Iowa ruled that same-sex marriage was legal in the state. Loren is a retired Psychiatrist, and the author of the book Finally Out: Letting Go of Living Straight, A Psychiatrist’s Own Story. The book is available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle editions, and through other booksellers.

Central Iowa Prime Timers is a new chapter, started in Feb 2012. One problem for new chapters is: How do you get the word out?  In Iowa, there were very few men who had ever heard of Prime Timers. Although PTWW has a template for a website, we did not even have enough men to make that feasible. I found myself frequently explaining the clubs purpose and how it differed from other LGBT organizations.  I made a brochure (that I'm happy to share with anyone This email address is being protected from spambots.
