This area contains all of the news articles from the Prime Timers Worldwide quarterly newsletter.  They are listed in chronological order, with the most recent news article listed first.  Feel free to peruse this article archive; it is chock full of interesting stories from local chapters, the worldwide organization as a whole, and important news to its members.

The idea was presented to the Board of Atlanta Prime Timers as they planned their annual Christmas party to take place, as usual, on the first Saturday in December. “Why give a Christmas party so early when many of the members without partners or families are alone on Christmas Day?” they were asked. The board took up the challenge. They went ahead and gave the usual party during the first week in December, and then went to work planning a celebration for Christmas Day.

Central Iowa Prime Timers is a new chapter, started in Feb 2012. One problem for new chapters is: How do you get the word out?  In Iowa, there were very few men who had ever heard of Prime Timers. Although PTWW has a template for a website, we did not even have enough men to make that feasible. I found myself frequently explaining the clubs purpose and how it differed from other LGBT organizations.  I made a brochure (that I'm happy to share with anyone This email address is being protected from spambots. A Week with Giants

I spent the last week in the company of giants. The giants, people of astounding stature in the LGBT movement, and in our own Prime Timers, were all in Atlanta for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force’s annual Creating Change conference. The conference attracted well over 3,000 attendees from across the US and the world. It is the largest gathering of LGBT activists in the world.

Prime Timers Worldwide had a booth at the conference, featuring our new full color banners and piles of past newsletters and other information to highlight our organization. Traffic at the booth was fairly steady from Thursday afternoon through Sunday morning. Many people have heard of Prime Timers, and others are impressed and want a chapter in their own cities.

There are so many reasons to be proud to be a Prime Timer. For starters, we were the first organization of older gays to spread beyond the local scene. True, many communities have had a luncheon group of cronies who got together regularly, or groups who bowled together, and there may be been local clubs who were less specialized and more diverse in their activities. But so far as I have been able to determine, Prime Timers was the first social organization to go national and eventually worldwide.
