Caregiving takes many forms. While we might think of caregivers as paid aides, in reality, the majority of caregiving in the United States is provided by informal caregivers—usually a spouse or child. In the LGBT community, many older adults do not have the same familial supports.

2012 Boston Prime Timers AIDS Walk Team Bernie Michels reports that $955 was raised by the Boston Prime Timers at the 27th Annual AIDS Walk Boston, June 3rd. Thank you to the gentlemen who walked and raised funds to help those with the disease.

The Gay and Lesbian Police Employees Network (Victoria, Australia)

In May 2004 GALPEN (Vic) Inc. Executives unanimously recommended Luke Bryant for Honorary Life Membership, citing that his "8 years of unfailing enthusiasm, loyalty and expertise as Communications Officer had produced important contributions to our Network."


A forward looking change by Victoria Police occurred in 1990, when a part-time position for gay and lesbian issues was established. This was followed by the Victorian Government’s Equal Opportunity Act 1995 which included legislation against those that discriminate on the basis of a person’s sexual orientation.

Woody’s column this issue ponders "What is Prime Timers?" He boiled it down to "opportunity." Over the past three months I’ve had the opportunity to attend regional events at both Las Vegas and Denver. Both chapters did a great job putting on their gatherings -- and I salute them for their efforts. They gave all of us the opportunity to have fun.
