Barbara Satin, Institute for Welcoming Resources and Faith Works Associate for the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force spoke to an MSP Prime Timers potluck on Sunday, May 19th at 5:30 PM at the Towers Garden Room, 15 South 1st Street.

She will discussed the spirit of living out! Affordable apartments--fully open and welcoming to senior LGBT community members--are taking shape at 13th and Lake in Minneapolis. Spirit on Lake was conceived to be a safe, secure home for LGBT seniors. If you, or one of your friends or network members, is a potential resident for one of the 46 affordable units in this project then you need to click on the url below for the latest information on this history making facility.

Who would have thought while laughing at the antics the characters of Golden Girls, we were seeing a new model of living – shared housing – for the prime time years of our life. The experience of shared housing may not be new to us: perhaps we shared an apartment while in college or when we moved out of our parents’ home. It is likely, however, we have not considered a shared living arrangement for this time of our lives.

Just to be clear: Shared housing is a long-term living arrangement where two – or more – unrelated people choose to live together in a house, apartment, condominium or mobile home.
