This area contains all of the news articles from the Prime Timers Worldwide quarterly newsletter.  They are listed in chronological order, with the most recent news article listed first.  Feel free to peruse this article archive; it is chock full of interesting stories from local chapters, the worldwide organization as a whole, and important news to its members.

Getting older and wondering what your future might be like: where will you live, shop, and enjoy the company of others? You've got plenty of company. The World Health Organization has been involved in helping communities around the world make better preparations for an aging population. Over 170 cities in our own country are in the process of putting together and implementing "age friendly" plans, making efforts to help people live easily and comfortably in their homes and communities as they age.

I am leading a small chapter in the northeast. The previous president had to leave for medical reasons. Rhode Island borders Connecticut and Massachusetts. We have monthly dinner meetings and our attendance has fluctuated. Our neighbors in Connecticut have helped us with support. Several members are friends with members of the Connecticut and Boston chapters. We meet at local restaurants. Since 2015 when the restaurant we had been frequenting closed, we have tried several places. It is interesting how each place has a slightly different approach to small groups. In addition to including in our membership and on our board founding members, we prize our Jim Norris who is one of the five or so remaining founding members of the original Prime Timers (in the world).

Do something utterly ridiculous. I can empathize with the person who is stuck in a highly emotional and physically challenging job/family/community-responsible position, wanting to go to a quiet, secluded island for vacation where they can read a good book and get away from all the pressure. I can also empathize with the person who, day-to-day, has to maintain a frustrating dignity who wants to go to a wild thickly populated place where they can shed their dignity and be completely anonymous and live on the wild side for their vacation.

As we enter into our 31st year as an organization, we continue to work to cover the map with chapters. When I was elected to the board in 2003, our chapters numbered in the 40's and our Independent Members were over 200. As we increased and doubled those numbers, our Independent Members had more and closer chapters to join and their numbers declined. It makes sense: more chapters to serve more Prime Timers.
