The 2016 North America Outgames is coming to St. Louis! And PTSL members will be participating and doing our part to help make it a huge success.

From May 27 through June 4, 2016, an estimated 3,000 to 5,000 LGBTA participants from across the USA and Canada will arrive in St. Louis to attend this massive nine day event, held at over 18 different locations throughout the Metro St. Louis area.

These Outgames will include 18 different sporting competitions with more than 115 events, multiple cultural celebrations, and a three-day Human Rights Conference, creating an immersive experience that will honor diversity, celebrate athletic accomplishment, facilitate learning, and inspire action...all with a ton of fun activities thrown in too.

This huge, high profile undertaking is being hosted by Team St. Louis (www.teamsaintlouis.org) in partnership with the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, the St. Louis Convention & Visitors Commission, and the St. Louis Sports Commission.

The first and second North America Outgames were held in Calgary (2007) and Vancouver (2011) Canada. That St. Louis was chosen to be the first city in the USA to host the North America Outgames is a very exciting opportunity and fitting for a city with a long history of LGBT activism.

Prime Timers St. Louis plans to do our part by presenting a workshop addressing LGBT Senior issues at the Outgame's Human Rights Conference (www.naoutgames2016.org/human-rights.html). In addition, we plan to strongly encourage all PTSL members to consider ways they can get involved – be it by providing simple lodging for athletes and visiting out-of-town Prime Timers, working registration, participating in competitive events, or much more. Opportunities for fun involvement like this don't come around very often, so we plan to do our part to help make this memorable event a success.

For more information and to register for any of the sporting competitions, the Outgames Human Rights Conference, or to volunteer your help, go to www.naoutgames2016.org.
